Lincoln County Republicans,
On August 30, 2024, Jasmine Baehr, a Fox News writer published the above news article covering the City of Aurora's response to the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua's armed occupation of several apartment buildings.
The Aurora City Attorney's Office is seeking an emergency court order from a municipal judge to declare the properties a "Criminal Nuisance" which would permit more aggressive actions to be taken.
Aurora Police have made significant progress in their efforts to combat the gang. They arrested the gang leader, known as “Cookie Monster,” in connection with a shooting on July 28. A dedicated task force continues to work on disrupting the gang’s operations and restoring safety to the affected areas.
Aurora City Council Member Danielle Jurinsky has been very vocal about the issue, criticizing democratic Governor Jared Polis for what she perceives as a lack of adequate response. The governor's office has stated that the state is ready to support Aurora’s efforts in dealing with the gang problem.
